Version of Adobe PDF file format in Export

Post by mriggall »

Hi

When you export a report to pdf format in the Silverlight Viewer, the format of the pdf file is 1.4 (or Adobe 5.x). Adobe is now up to version 11 or later.

Will you be modifying the export to PDF feature to export in more recent PDF format?

Our customer has complained about this problem in our reports that we generate through Stimulsoft.

thanks

Matt

Hello,

Thank you for the question.

1.4 specifies the minimal version with which the PDF file can be opened.
We have tested it on compatibilities with later versions of Adobe.

Do you have some issues with viewing reports on versions higher than 11?

Waiting for your reply.
Thank you.

Hi Andrew

The issue is that when the document is opened in a later version of Adobe Acrobat it always wants to upgrade the PDF version (and sees "unsaved changes").

Our customer, a large bank, has a problem in that they have document management systems that do not recognise such an old format of PDF.

Is there a way in our code that we can specify the PDF version that we want to export it?

thanks

Matt

Hello,

We made some changes in last versions. Please try to check the last version and let us know about the result.

Thank you.

Hi

We have 2013.2 version of Stimulsoft Reports for Silverlight. We tried to export to PDF both on client side and server side but both generate an old format of pdf (version 5.x).

Please can you let us know if we can specify a pdf version during the export process?

thanks

Hello.

You issue does not connected with version of PDF-file. There was a bug in our export method. The Adobe Acrobat wanted to save PDF file after it was opened because Acrobat fixed some errors in structure of PDF file. In our latest major release this bug was fixed and there shouldn't be such messages now.
Please, let us know if you have this issue with our latest release.

Thank you.
