Odd refresh behavior of dependent variables

Hello,

I have come accross a rather odd refresh behavior related to dependent dashboard variables.

The attached dashboard shows revenues for a timeframe.
The timeframe is defined by the period chosen from the drop down at the top.

The from and to dates depend on the chosen period.
When the dashboard is opened, the default period is "this year".
After clicking submit revenues for this year are displayed in the column chart.

Whenever a different period, i. e 1st quarter, is selected from the drop down an immediate
page refresh occurs. The circle symbol appears and the diagram is repainted although the submit
button has not been clicked yet and data remains unchanged.

This behavior is confusing to the user.

Could you describe it more detailed?
