Empty item no longer default in DB combo

For reports which show combo box and allow user to select a value from database:

In older version (2010.3) combo would show up empty. After user selected item she could change her mind and hit Reset button to empty the combobox.
In current version, combo starts with first item selected. Reset button resets the selection to first item.

Is there a setting to revert to old behavior?

Hi,

Open designer. Create an empty report. Create a variable which requests input from user. Data source should be data columns. Pick a (not null) column from database for keys and values. Go to preview. First item is selected.

Version is 2015.3
