How do I assign a style in WPF

I am using the latest WPF build. I defined several component styles in the designer. However I found no way to assign them to component like a text field. The style control conly changes between light and dark gray.

What am I missing?

Some more information:

It only happens when

StiOptions.Wpf.LoadTheme = false;
