Hello,

One of my users has got a new printer which uses roll labels like this.

How should I set up the page height for this kind of labels? Because actually, there is no page height, it is unlimited!

Thank you very much.

Thank you for your reply.
So basically in this case I have to consider 1 label = 1page.

Many thanks, I'll try it.

How to deal with roll labels?

Hi all,

One year ago I posted about those "roll" labels printed with thermal printers.
Since then I've done some experiments, and it appears that I have a lot of problems with adjusting the size of those labels.
As soon as I change 0.1 mm in the height properties, printed text shifts down little by little, and the last one is completely out of the label! Impossible to find the good size, I always have a shifting problem, no matter what I do.

I've read this post that talks about the same topic. It talks also about Unlimited height setting, and also about a "watermark". I don't know if I should use those settings to solve my problem.

Could you please help me to define the correct settings for my labels?

Many thanks.

Hello,

In the label thermal printers there is a sensor of the beginning of the label.
If the sensor is on, then, after printing the current label, the printer runs the tape with the labels exactly up to the next label.
If the sensor is off, then, after printing the current label, the printer runs the tape on a fixed distance, which is specified in the label settings. Since the feed mechanism and location of the label on the tape may have errors, the exact positioning is not possible. With each new label the printout will be shifted with respect to the label.
Also, in some printers, the sensor which detects the beginning of the label may be off automatically when you select the Custom label size but not one of the preset sizes.
Therefore, if there is a printing shift, it is necessary to check the sensor which detects the beginning of the label and try to set one of the a standard label sizes.

Thank you.

Hello,

Thanks for your reply. I will pay attention to this sensor issue.
But in the meantime, how should I build my label report for thermal printer?
Should I define 1 label=1 page, or define an unlimited height, as said in the topic I quoted before?

Thank you.

Hello,

In that topic they do not use thermal labels but rolled paper, so there is no difference there.
In your case, usually set 1 label = 1 page.
But if the sensor does not work, in any case, you will have to pick up sizes very accurately.

Thank you.
