Using dates and parameters in a Databand Filter

Hi There,
I have a SQL based report that I want to use Parameters to filter on. I have created a filter that looks like this:
However when I attempt to preview the report I get no data back.
Changing this to an expression yeilds the same result
I know checking the SQL directly that the results are there - is there a correct method that I should be using the filtering by dates?
