Variable[request from user] value after submitting is not getting updated in mrt file on saving the report

I create a request from user variable with name 'category', after entering value and submitting it is getting updated on designer, After saving the report , the mart file contain variable named 'category' but value is empty. How can i get the submitted variable value in mrt?
