Error message for only one user

Post by Jennypi »

Hello,

In my company, Stimulsoft is used via a Citrix server.
I've recently installed the prerelease build 2014.01.17.

One of my user is getting a error message ("Object reference not set to an instance of an object"). It's not linked to data, as it shows up even if no data are loaded (Cancel button clicked) through the user form.

So far, this user is the only one who gets this message.
The Citrix server is running Windows Server 2003 R2, and the user's PC is running windows XP (but I don't think it had any impact).

At first, the user had the Office 2013 GUI, so I thought it was the problem (too recent for Windows server). So I changed it to Office 2003, but he's still getting the message.
I really don't understand, I use exactly the same connection settings than him, and it's working perfectly for me!

Can you help please?

Hello,

Please make following steps:
1. Uninstall SR.
2. Check GAC and if need remove Stimulsoft Assemblies from GAC.
3. Install new version.
4. Update references in your projects.

Also please try to remove the settings folder:
c:\Users\[UserName]\AppData\Local\Stimulsoft\

Also please send us an additional information that can help us to solve your problem.
Thank you.

Hello,

Thanks for your reply.
I've tried (sorry I'm new at all this) to follow what you recommended.
One precision thought: I don't use a regular installation of SR, I have a single developer licence and embedded SR librairies into a small C# application.

So I went in C:/Windows/assembly folder of the Citrix server, and there is no file named like 'Stimulsoft'.

Should I try to recreate the references in VStudio and then rebuild the application? I haven't gone through that step when rebuilding the application with the 2014.01.17 new version.

Thank you.

Hello.

Did you remove %LOCALAPPDATA%\Stimulsoft folder?

Thank you.

I went to this folder (no "Users" folder in Windows Server 2003):

and as you can see, there is no Stimulsoft folder.

I just have the Stimulsoft folder containing my C# application and the Stimulsoft librairies.

Hello,

I've rebuilt the references in my project, and I've deleted the Stimulsoft Local Settings folders.
Everything seems to be back to normal now, no more error message for the concerned user.

Thanks a lot!
