Storage and persistence of changes to design interface

The design interface has some settings that can be adjusted by the user: Show/Hide Headings and Grid, Setup Toolbox, and, under Options, Grid setup controls. Can you clarify at what level these are applied, how long they persist , and if they are automatically reset?

Example. I made some setting changes. I then logged out and back in with a different user ID and was surprised to see the changes still in place. But logging into a different browser showed me the original defaults.

All these settings are stored in browser cookies. If you need reset it - you can remove cookies for that web site.
