Assigning Property "Can Shrink" to data field

Working in the web version, I'm trying to add a description field to my databand, but dont want any extra space when the description does not print. I set the property of Can Shrink for this field to true, but when I preview/run the report it does not display properly. Data is not appearing in the same layout as in the designer. Any idea why this is happening and what I can do to correct this?

You may also need to set your DataBand to 'CanShrink' too so that is can reduce its size when the Description is empty.
