Spool Overload and different background color when printing

Hello devs,

We're using Reports.Fx on a RIA. Everything was OK until we spotted a strange overload on our print spool: as strange as it may sounds, everytime we print a report, it turns out to be sent as a huge file, sometimes growing up to some Gigas bytes. The result of this behaviour is Flash Plug-in crashing.

The image below shows the spool of PDF Creator for a 26pages long report. The result is a 11,7MB pdf.



As if it wasn't strange enough, that happens only when printing directly from the preview page. If we save the report as a pdf via preview options, it's size drops to 300ish kbs, the expected size.

Another strange behaviour we spotted is that the pages are being print with a grey background, as if the page weren't sized correctly, even though they are set do A4. When saved as PDF via preview options, this grey background isn't visible.

The question is: how to solve these problems? Are those already known issues? If so, are there any workaround or solution?

Hello,

The printing data size is large, because Flash Player can print only using the image. This is a limitation of Flash Player and on the current moment we cannot solve the problem.

Regarding the gray fields: please download the latest prerelease build from our site, this problem should be solved.

Well, examining the results when exporting the report to PDF (318 kb in size) I noted that the memory overhead was 92,6 MB - for a report with 26 pages. But when printing directly I get the huge memory consuption that causes the Flash Player to crash.

I´m using the Demo version of Reports.Fx, I think that´s (maybe) because the Demo watermark in the report that is causing this behavior.

Hello,

We plan to implement print quality settings (lower quality - less memory will be consumed), also, in the future, we have plans to implement the vector print mode, but in this mode Flash Player can print only text in black and white mode.

The memory consumption does not depend on DEMO watermark.
As an alternative solution, you can print pages in the order of a few parts (1-10, 11-20 and so on).

Unfortunately, this task is suspended, because in Flash at this time there are large limitations in vector printing. We plan to return to this problem in the future.
