Alternatives to Crystal Reports

Post by RicoEMolina »

Hello,
We're currently using Crystal Reports in our web application, which has over 100 reports. Since Crystal Reports is no longer supported, we're looking to upgrade to a new reporting tool or engine.

We would appreciate any recommendations for powerful reporting tools, whether paid or open-source. Thank you!

I was a long time Crystal Report person. I really liked it, however after SAP bought it things went downhill. So I looked for an alternative. I spent hours searching and demoing various report products, there are a surprising number out there. I finally decided on Stimulsoft. I use the Reports Web version since it met my requirements. I needed something that supported .Net, was a banded report designers, ran in a web app and allowed end users to create ad-hoc reports. Stimulsoft is brilliant for that.

Also, at the time I had to convert a number of reports from Crystal to Stimulsoft. I had about 60 report to convert. I discovered they had a tool that would do the conversion for me. I used it, while no conversion tool is a 100% their's was very good. I believe I made the initial conversion of the reports using their tool in less than a hour. A little cleanup and I was set.

While a die-hard CR developer, I have found Stimulsoft is equal to it and may in some ways exceed it. I have been happy with it and can recommend it to anyone who asks about it. Give it trial to see if it meets your needs.
