Support for Brother and Dymo lable printers

Post by Andre2 »

Hi There
I have asked this question before, but will revisit it now.
Does any one have sample lable reports which print to these type of printers.
At this stage I have wastes hours and 100's of lables trying to get them to work.

The text is either cut off on the horizontal or vertical.
Playing with landscape and protrait views along with rotating text appears to be a short road to frustration

Crystal,SQL server reports tools even Access has no trouble printing to these type of printers.
Just carnt get Stimulsoft report generater to do the same :redeye:

many Thanks

2008.1.200

PS Should mention that we have tried but have not been able to install any later versions...keep getting weird file is in use or already exits errors
Support have not been helpful in resolving these errors

We print to these printers all the time.

For us it all depends on the type of label a customer is using. This depends on whether the label goes through the Dymo in landscape or portrait.
If it's portrait we rotate the text components on the page 90 degrees.
If it's landscape we just do regular printing with no rotation.

It's been nearly 2 years since I last looked at trying this without any text rotation so maybe it's possible by setting device settings on the PrinterSettings object to do landscape/portrait depending on the label used.

What we do is just define the page size to the same size as the label being used. I should note that in most cases not all of the entire label is printable. There is a margin to take into consideration which was also the case with the Dymo software that came with the printers.

Hi Andre,
Here are some samples I use

Dymo Label Samples
99012
11354
11352

I only have static text on them in the sample. Generally I would register a datasource with customer info and use that, or define variables and set them in code. Sometimes I'll have a form for the user to specify how many copies of the label they want to print.

Hi Brendan
I can now see the problem

I worked out how to download your samples and am using the 99012 label

As it stands it works but we use a label that is twice as wide

If I increase the width of your sample to reflect the actual size of the label it then does some really weird stuff when printing
If I move the name “joe blogs” to the top of the newly resized label it won’t print “Joe Bloggs” but then neither will it print the Post code text

This is the bit that has been so frustrating

Any ideas
Andre

Ok I fed up with this...chasing my tail trying to get this to work

Frankly support have not been helpful.

All i can say is that Brendan has been helpful but that the problem continues.

I have no trouble using either the built in report generator in VS 2008 or crystal reports but no joy with Stimulsoft.

I cannot support two or more report generators in our application and thus will now look for alternatives to the Stimulsoft Product.

This decision was taken lightly but comes about after failing to receive support for a number of other issues despite being a paying customer

Hello, Andre.

We understand that there is no universal decision for all requirements for any task. Some questions has a global priority, some have a particular case solutions for different hardware and software configurations.
Sometimes it happens that it is impossible to resolve difficult questions as fast as we would want to, but be sure that all you requirements are under our attention and control.
New version of the report engine will resolve a lot of limitations which we currently have inside of the report engine. But completing all nuances requires time. Please be patient, most of your questions are possible to be resolved, we are still working on solution for them.

Sorry again for the delay and thank you, Brendan for your Help.

Thank you.

Yes, especially when there is a no time for finding a solution. We also have to deal with requirements from Customers.

We are on the way of finding those printers.

P.S. Have you tried to update drivers to the latest versions?

Thank you.
