is there a way to add a custom Button to the RibbonGuiPreview or to the StiRibbonViewerControl?

This feature is not available for ribbon gui.
For ribbon gui it is possible only from source code.

we don't have a license with source code (and frankly we don't want to have one).
Please take this as a suggestion for a new feature in an upcoming release.
