Data from other Data Source

Hi there,

I'm am having some trouble getting a working example of your report designer integrated into my project.

I'm using your MVCMobile designer and am following your sample projects (although I've noticed the same issue appears in the code here too)

I have the designer loading and am able to load in a definition, make edits and save it.

I'm also able to create my own dataset, pass that in use it for a grid / tabular report.

The problem I'm having however is that I'm following advice on other forum posts about grouping data so I'm trying to create a new datasource using the "Data from other Data Source" option however no matter what options I change, the list is empty and I can't select my existing Dataset.

Can you please advise as even your demonstration code using the HTML5 web designer appears to be unable to perform this function.

It's impossible to add Data Source form Other Data Source in MVC Mobile Designer.
Please, send us a feature request to support@stimulsoft.com if you need this type of Data Source.

Thank you for the reply, although I'm curious as to what value the report builder actually has in the MVC designer if you cannot perform simple grouping and calculations on data sets?

For example, there is currently no way to create a piechart of information grouped by say category unless the dataset exactly matches?

Unless I'm missing something - could you please clarify!

We are continuously improving Mobile Designer.
We are adding all necessary features as it is requested.
This type of data sources was not yet requested. So there is no Data Source form Other Data Source in MVC Mobile Designer.

Thanks for the reply.
I only ask as I am currently researching your application as a potential solution for our product so would be looking at a site license however the ability to allow users to create their own custom data sets based on some simple provided ones to allow them to group / order etc is a core requirement for us.

How often do you release updates to the tool, and if I were to request the functionality would it be worked on any time soon or would be added to a backlog and handled as and when?

This feature should be released in this month. At this moment our team work hard to close all tickets of the missed features in HTML5 designer. We plan release most of them at December-January.

I will inform you when Data based on other Data source will be released in this topic.

Wow, that was fast!

I've downloaded and tried the pre-release version as you suggested however I'm still unable to use the data from other data source option as the list of available sources is still blank as it was before and I'm unable to select the dataset being passed in as XML to the report.

Do I need to enable the feature or pass the dataset to the report differently to allow this functionality to work?
