Chart shows checkerboard pattern on print

My charts have always shown a yellow checkerboard effect between vertical and horizontal grid marks.

I changed the area brush from gradient to solid and get a white background but I can't see how to remove this
checkerboard pattern.

What properties do I need to change?

This only appears on printing the chart, it's not visible in print preview.
