Data Grouping and Sorting

How can I set up my report in such a way that I have for example different teachers with a list of students and totals at the end of each group with the totals but also with the ability to sort the same when download into excel Without the Totals shifting to the top ( Sort Z to A) and to the bottom ( Sort A to Z) Currently using the groupheader band and groupfooter band adds an extra row between the totals and it doesn't allow for sorting when downloaded to Excel. Attached Excel screen shot is what I want to achieve but sortable:
